Should you quit traditional product photography?
Almost 75% of images you see in print and online are now CGI renders! 😝
If you’re a product photographer, it’s time to start learning CGI, and it’s not that hard to get started.
Future-proofing your career as a photographer is crucial because technology will displace 85 million jobs by 2025.
Technology will not replace product photography, but there is a rapid shift towards CGI.
Unfortunately, many product photographers are resistant to change despite industry leaders projecting a significant decline in traditional product photography by 2030.
Why you need future proof of your career now:
- Unlimited Creativity: Traditional photography and CGI at the core are the same. However, the former has its limits. Creating product photos with CGI means that users enjoy unlimited creativity, something you can not do with traditional photography.
- Cost: CGI is very efficient and cost-effective. You can create extravagant lifestyle photos with unlimited props or a simple product shot for a competitive price. One of the main areas you’ll save money is logistics.
- Time: CGI involves zero planning, logistics, shipping or equipment. You can easily create images from a simple reference photo. Also, you can revise, make adjustments and experiment with different creative angles without spending too much time.
If you are reluctant to transition, a good place to start is using CGI as another tool to add to your workflow.
Have you tried using CGI to create your content? What was your experience like? What is your favourite software?
